There is no doubt we are living in unprecedented times resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Sure Business Systems therefore wanted to update you on the challenges faced by the UK telecommunications industry and keep you informed on what we are doing to protect the service we deliver.

Our top priority is and will remain the safety of our team which has lead us to take strict precautions. Those who can are now working from home with our office remaining open for engineers and staff on a need to basis. Our hygiene routine has been considerably upped with regular hand washing and sanitising routines required by all of our staff.

Voice over Internet protocol, more commonly known as VOIP requires a stable and congestion free intenet connection. Sure Business Systems maintain high-speed links to Tier 1 carriers that are contracted to provide internet access. However, like all VOIP resellers, we are reliant on our partners’ and carriers’ networks to be able to deliver and sustain these services. Currently these networks are experiencing considerable increases in levels of traffic which is expected to continue to increase over the coming weeks.

There has been a lot of media coverage around UK mobile networks which have been experiencing issues over the past few days due to the huge increase in usage and on some occasions calls have been prone to fail. It is likely that this trend will increase significantly next week with UK schools closing which will increase further the amount of people working from home. In addition we expect this will put more strain on already congested links due to student online learning as well as other online services such as video streaming. Sure Business Systems are working therefore closely with our primary carriers to minimise any risk to the services we provide our customers.

In the event that internet links or certain providers become overly congested, customers may begin to experience a degraded service. The cause of the problem often lies much higher up in the UK infrastructure or with the remote party’s provider, which we are unable to control. National problems are often unpredictable and many end-users may believe the problem lies with their own telephone system when it is in fact not. A good test that can be done is www.downdectector.co.uk that will report the current status of most UK providers. Whilst some underlying issues may be beyond our control please rest assured that we will do all we can to help provide you with the best possible services and should you experience difficulties please contact our helpline on 0151 363 7373

Most importantly, we hope that all our customers and their families remain safe during these unprecedented times.
